Daughters of Charity launch new website with prayer request feature

The Daughters of Charity have recently launched a new website with a prayer request feature. Sister Theresa Tighe writes: “The site has a special prayer request page where our older sisters will pray for requests for prayer that come through the site. Our older sisters’ ministry is to prayer and presence for those in need.”

If you have a prayer request that you would like the sisters to pray for, please put it in the “Prayer Requests” panel of their website: http://www.daughtersofcharity.org.uk/Spirit

COMPASS

Have you ever wondered whether the life of a nun, monk, sister, priest or brother might just be for you?

COMPASS aims to help men and women discern their vocation, with a particular focus on vocations to religious life. The annual programme starts in November, running over 5 weekends and the Easter Triduum, and ends in April. Over the six months you will be able to explore your vocation and experience religious life, to help you find out if it is for you, while continuing with your current work or studies.

Please visit www.compass-points.org.uk for details of the next programme.  If you would like to take part or have any queries please email enquiries@ukvocation.org.

New Primary School Resource: The Gift of Priests and Sisters

An engaging interactive assembly resource has recently been made available from Ten Ten, in partnership with the National Office for Vocation, to help primary school children understand why certain people choose to follow God’s call to become priests and sisters.

Please visit www.tentenresources.co.uk/vocations for sample pages of the assembly script and PowerPoint for schools, as well as a preview of the accompanying film for children.

New Dominican Game

A few Dominican friars in priestly formation at the Dominican House of Studies in Washington D.C. have created a browser video game called Passiontide: The Game.

The one-level game in the style of video games from 1990s has been created to help promote a Passiontide service, which will be put on by the Dominicans at a parish in Washington D.C. on March 12th.

A New National Vocations Framework: Our God-given Purpose

Discipleship is at the heart of the new National Vocations Framework for the Church in England and Wales. Over the next three years, the National Office for Vocation will work with dioceses and parishes to celebrate vocations locally. The Framework includes a definition of vocation founded on love and with three key elements: the call to holiness, the call to a way of life and the call to work.
